Philosophy of Education
Each day we are given the gift to learn something new from each other and together. Children are the most special and important part in the journey of education. I feel blessed to teach children about God and academics. It is my privilege to journey with them and to watch them grow and learn to be like Christ.
Other Interests: I love spending time with my family. I love reading, beading, planting flowers and crocheting.
ASCS MISSION STATEMENT: Together we will teach children to see the world through the eyes of Christ and to model the lives of the Saints in a rigorous academic environment.
Thank you for such a wonderful school year. I wish all of your families a blessed and safe summer. Remember to go to Mass and pray your rosary. You will remain in my prayers. I look forward to seeing you all soon. God bless you!
Religion: All parents should have received an email post from www.freshgrade.com. The religion journal reflection is on that site. I thank Jesus for sacrificing himself on the Cross. I remember and celebrate the Last Supper at Mass. I pray the Our Father. Write in Journal:(notebook) What can you offer to God our Father today? Please write at least two sentences. If you want to draw a picture to go with it great! Please put March 19 on top. I will grade journal when they come back.
Social Studies: Please read in your Social Studies book pages 134-137. On lined paper or in your notebook please use the word tax and the word freedom correctly in a sentence.

Reading workbook- please do pages 354 adjective/describing words. page 355-356 practicing neatest printing, page 357 phonics oo as in book and u as in push. In the story on the bottom of the page read the story and circle all words with oo and u sounds.
Read 20 minutes for AR goal or take a test on a book you have finished.

Click on that- go to lesson numbered 46 and 47 and please practice those two game sessions on practicing measuring inches and feet.

Click and go to lesson 48 to practice measuring in centimeters.

Social Studies: Read Social Studies text pages 142-144. Draw a covered wagon. If you traveled as a pioneer across western territory list ten things you would back for survival.

Draw a picture of it: Write words to describe your rock-Is it hard, or soft? What color is it? Is it different colors? Is it smooth, bumpy, jagged. Looking at page 211-what kind of rock would you classify it as? limestone, marble, slate, sandstone, granite, obsidian. Where did you find your rock.
Religion-Listen to the Chaplet of Divine Mercy in Song. Pray for the poor, sick and the elderly that they feel the love of Christ. Pray for your whole family.

Cross out the word chalkboard and write picture or tv screen for that measurement. Pages 454-455-456.
Social Studies: Read Social Studies text page 148-152 Our Nation Changes. On page 153 answer the comprehension questions 1-3 on lined paper.
Question 1- Define the word immigrant. ( Use glossary in back of social studies book)
Question 2- What did people do to change the way factories treated workers? (Write your answer in a complete sentence.)
Question 3- Write about one person your read about. How did that person change our country?

Science: Listen to the mini-lesson video from Mystery Science/Mystery Doug:" How Does Sanitizer Kill Germs?" Answer this question in writing on lined paper. See if your prediction was correct?

Math-100 addition problems timed for 5 minutes. This should be in the folder still. (I will need a picture of this.) Lesson 9.7 workbook pages 217-218 comparing measurements. Religion- Read page 137 About The Creed with your parent. Listen to the song: The Creed by Hillsong which is a song that states what Catholics believe when we recite The Creed at Mass.
Reading- This is assigned a Pearson Realize. When your child logs in it will be listed as Unit week 1 test it is 15 questions. This means Unit 5 Week 1. I will view the results. There is a paper copy in the folder, but I would like them to do on computer if possible.
Science- Continuing with fossils. I will send RS 4o as an email attachment. The students may answer the questions on lined paper if you can not print it out. Watch the fossil video below. On lined paper please write two facts that you learned about fossils. Write one fact about something a paleontologist does within their job.

Welcome to a four day week. We begin spring break on Good Friday April 10-so there will be no assignments on Friday. Thank you for your hard work in turning in your children's assignments. It is truly appreciated.
Math: I made a mistake last week in assigning Math page 461. Today's Math assignment is Chapter 9 review pages 461-462-463-464-all four pages is one assignment. Tomorrow will be the chapter test on Think Central.
Reading: Read the story for the week Carl the Complainer pages 230-247. Do reading workbook pages 397-398. prefiixes dis, over, un, pre, re, and un. and vocabulary builders for our story.
Spelling Unit 26 is prefixes dis, over, un, pre, re, and un. The following words are unit 26 words: unsafe, unlock, unplug, unpack, disappear, disagree, rewind, regroup, rerun, preheat, preschool, discolor. and bonus words: twenty-three, litter. This group of words is Unit 26 unit 5 week 2. Pre-test will be Wednesday and final test on Holy Thursday.
Religion- On Palm Sunday, Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. The people waved palm branches and sang," Hosanna, in the Highest, Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord." This is Monday and Tuesdays assignments. Make a banner with the word "Hosanna!" on it decorate it with flowers and plants and whatever you feel is holy and praises Jesus. If Jesus rode past your sign that day what would he see?
Social Studies-Review read pages 150-153 Our Nation Changes-about immigrant working conditions. Answer questions on lined paper from workbook page 48 which will come attached via email.

Religion: Continue to work on your Hosanna Banner for Jesus as he entered the city of Jerusalem. People waved palms. Decorate with flowers, and plants? What would Jesus see if he saw your Holy banner? I will ask for a picture of banner for a religion assignment.

Religion- Go to www.freshgrade.com listen to the story entitled, "Good Friday" Please say the prayer "At the Feet of the Crucified Jesus" with your parent. Write a short letter to Jesus at the foot of His Cross. Tell him how much you love Him for dying on the Cross for our sins. The prayer will be in an attachment to your parent's email.

Science-Do chapter 5 review on Rocks/ page 228 and 229 1-6 and choose either 7 or 8 to answer in a sentence or two. This will count as a small quiz and will be our chapter assessment. Please do on lined paper. I will ask for a picture of this for a grade.

Math: Lesson 10.1 in text Tally Marks. Page 470 take a survey and gather data-use tally marks to record data. Use family members, call friends or grandparents to do this. Ask ten people their favorite pet cat, dog, fish, bird-mark tally markts on chart and answer questions. One pet, one tally mark. page 471-survey favorite indoor games board game, card game, computer, puzzle. Record tally marks on data chart and answer questions. Page 472-Use the given tally chart about Favorite Subject to answer questions.

I will be sending an email attachment for a Father's Day Activity. If you can not print out please draw on a piece of white paper. Draw a picture of your Dad in the center and do the write around his picture answering all the special questions about your Dad. Color and write your neatest and best work. You can use this as your Father's Day card.

This week on June 3, 4, and 5, we have pick up of personal items and return of school property. Wednesday is from 2:00-7:00 p.m. last names A-G, Thursday is 9:00-2:00 last names H-O, and Friday is 7:00 a.m.-noon last name letters P-Z. I will need returned from you a science textbook, a social studies textbook, a green 2.2 basal reader. You will receive your personal desk items and personal locker items packed in a bag. You will receive your report card, summer packet, and yearbook. You will receive a summer packet only if you are enrolled for next year. You will receive your Great America ticket if you participated in the reading program of 600 minutes. You will need to pick up your child's animal habitat science project in the front hall by Ms. Flemming's door. You will also need to pick up your child's snowman project in the front hall. You will also receive your child's chalice if they made this project. I look forward to seeing you all then. If you can not make your time slot please email me.
