Volunteering

VOLUNTEER PREPARATION

The Archdiocese of Milwaukee defines a school volunteer as any adult who works with children.  If you are a new volunteer and have not completed any of the requirements below please click here to start the process https://milwaukee.cmgconnect.org/

All school volunteers are required to complete:

  • Safeguarding All of God’s Family Training Session  (New volunteer instructions)
  • A completed background check.  Background checks are needed every 5 years for volunteers/employees.

If you are a current volunteer in need of a 5 year background check renewal, click here to log in to your CMG account https://milwaukee.cmgconnect.org/

Any questions in regards to this process please contact Lesley Feudner at [email protected] or call 262-925-400.

School Closing

According to Archdiocese of Milwaukee Policy 6114.5, ASCS will follow the decision to close if KUSD closes. However, we reserve the right to close in the event that KUSD remains open. If KUSD is closed, there is NO BUSING for ASCS.  If school is closed, all after school activities are also canceled. We will have the decision communicated by 5:30 am. If a decision is made to be virtual, instead of fully closed down, more detailed communication will also be given in a separate email to parents.

Communication to parents will be made by:

  • OptionC alert (text and email)
  • ASCS Website Calendar
  • ASCS FaceBook page
  • CBS 58, TMJ4, WISN 12, FOX 6

Things we considered:

  • Whether a weather warning has been issued and remains in effect at or after 5 a.m. of the day in question
â—‹ Warnings issued in advance are often canceled due to a change in storm systems and the district does not want to make decisions based on inaccurate data/information
  • Whether there is a sustained wind chill of -34 degrees or lower
  • Whether there is a sustained temperature of -20 degrees or lower
  • Whether there is or will be a heavy accumulation of snow, especially during typical travel times to and from school
â—‹ Are streets and sidewalks clear?
â—‹ Are buses unable to run due to extreme cold or unplowed streets?
    â—‹ Are driving conditions hazardous?
â—‹ Are there power or phone outages?

Other weather-related guidelines:

  • 0 degrees or below, or wind chill factor of 0 degrees or below, or rain/drizzle/blizzard = Indoor recess and early 7:20 am entrance into school.
