“This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad!” We certainly are rejoicing as a school community over a practically flawless start to a new year. We opened our doors with 628 students enrolled in K4-8th grade and an additional 55 enrolled in our Saints In Training Early Childhood Centers. We have 56 faculty members, 11 administrative staff members (full and part time), 1 Saints In Training Director and 13 full or part time Saints In Training Teachers. My heart is full of JOY.
These past few weeks I have spent quite a bit of time, usually while driving, reflecting on the mission of All Saints Catholic School. “Together we teach children to see the world through the eyes of Christ and to model the lives of the Saints in a rigorous academic environment.” I saw on Facebook an interesting story about squeezing an orange. If one squeezes an orange, what comes out? Well the obvious answer is juice. What kind of juice? Orange Juice-not lemon juice, or cranberry juice, or apple juice but orange juice because the substance inside is of an orange. In connecting that back to our mission, it is because of our belief in Jesus and His Spirit dwelling within us that we have the grace needed to truly see the world through His eyes. Our interior selves resemble and reflect Christ as we are made in His image and likeness and thus- good. Therefore, every word, attitude, idea, reaction and response must also be good as that is the substance of our being just as orange juice is within the orange. Our task as Catholic School educators is then to help the children at ASCS recognize their uniqueness and goodness so that they learn to respond in love and goodness as well. It is the core of who we are as a school community. It is the reason we are here. I invite you to join us in helping teach the children to live a life rooted in His goodness and holiness.
I also want to take a few minutes to formally welcome the following groups to our school this year:
- New families enrolled at our West, South and North Campus
- New faculty and staff members at our West, South and North Campus
- New volunteers at our West, South and North Campus
- Returning families, faculty, staff and volunteers
Thank you for saying yes to the invitation “…to become Saints”!
