This week we celebrated at both our North and South Campus a May Crowning of Mary as queen and mother. Mary holds such a profound place in the heart, mind and life of a Catholic. We honor Mary as the mother of Jesus, as a Saint, as Theotokos (God Bearer), as a disciple and a host of other devotions. There are litanies proclaiming Mary as Help of Christians, Cause of our Joy, Morning Star, Mother of Sorrow, Mother of Good Counsel, Immaculate Heart and many others. How beautiful it is to see our children process in and honor Mary. How powerful is the Rosary when prayed with an intention in mind. This month we send home with each family, the Family Rosary. We ask you to take 20 minutes and pray the rosary together as a family. For those of you not Catholic, the devotion to Mary at times seems “strange” as it is often misunderstood. An important distinction that non Catholics often don’t quite understand is that we honor Mary, we don’t worship Mary. We worship God. Any devotion we as Catholics have toward Mary leads us closer to Christ. So please join us in the Month of May and spend time praying the Rosary!
