Last year, Pope Benedict XVI proclaimed a Year of Faith, beginning Oct. 11, 2012. This special season celebrates two important milestones in the Catholic Church: the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council, and the 20th anniversary of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The 13-month period ends Nov. 24, 2013 on the feast of Christ the King.
During this time, the Archdiocese of Milwaukee will offer many opportunities for the faithful to celebrate, deepen and share the spiritual richness of their Catholic faith beginning with the opening Mass for the Year of Faith. Please consider attending the Year of Faith opening Mass on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012 at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 812 N. Jackson St., Milwaukee, 7 p.m. This Mass will include a special recognition of catechists, Catholic school teachers and those who assist with faith formation in our parishes and schools. Two of our teachers will attend and “represent” our school. For additional information, please click here. http://www.archmil.org/
