Sacred Time

This morning the faculty and staff gathered together for a mini-retreat.  We took part in a workshop titled “praying in color” which taught us a new and unique way to pray.  The time together was grace-filled.  Following the workshop we continued watching the 4th and 5th DVD in Fr. Barron’s Catholicism series.  The morning was filled with joy, laughter, tears and sharing.  God truly is in our midst in the minds, hearts and hands of our teachers and staff members.  I feel blessed to serve this faith-filled group of individuals.

Grace and Joy

Happy Easter!  Spring and the Easter season tend to draw me into a deeper sense of joy and awareness of God’s grace in my life.  This busy time of year as a Catholic school principal I need to mindful about me taking time to pause, respond and to live the Peace Prayer of St. Francis.  “Lord make me an instrument of your peace.”  I move toward the words written by James Adams, editor of Living Faith: Daily Catholic Devotions, in a reflection he did on the Peace Prayer:  “Lord, when I seem to be overwhelmed by the demands of life, help me to clarify anew why I do things. Help me to regain genuine Christian motives for my responses” (p. 152).  I pray that during this season of Joy each one of us takes the time necessary to remember that everything we do we do for the glory of God.  I thank God for each one you!  Dr. Jackie Lichter

Celebrate a Catholic education!

Recently, All Saints Catholic School held a dinner benefit in an effort to raise funds for its continued mission of Catholic education in Kenosha.  Parish pastors, community dignitaries, administration and parents from both All Saints Catholic School and St. Joseph Catholic Academy were invited to celebrate the heritage of Catholic education in Kenosha. Archbishop Jerome Listecki and Dr. Kathleen Cepelka were guest presenters at this unprecedented event. As part of this event, Dr. Cepelka presented her vision for Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, which covered a span of important elements from leadership to programming.  Dr. Cepelka along with the Archbishop commented on the model of Catholic education Kenosha as being a benchmark fornot only the Archdiocese but also for the nation. I invite you to read this vision statement, take note of this direction in which we are headed, and rejoice in the hopeful season we are in for Catholic Education.

The vision can be found at www.schools.archmil.org

With God’s Blessings,  Dr. Jackie Lichter

Holy Triduum

On this final day of Lent, we the Catholic Christian community prepare
ourselves to enter the holy Triduum. We are mindful that we are called to be
faithful disciples who share in both His death and His resurrection.   Throughout Lent our children sang the  following refrain:  “Save your people oh
Lord-show us the way to come home. We have been wandering far from your love-oh
save your people oh Lord!”   It is my prayer that each and every one of us will be drawn ever more  closely to the Lord.  We are chosen, we
are blessed, and we are broken so that we may be given.  Our humanity comes to fulfillment in giving  to others.

‘My appointed time draws near.’”  Matthew 26: 18
